I really wasn't sure that I was going to like Alexis, but she managed to surprise me in so many ways. She is not your stereotypical sorority girl and would much rather play sports and have fun than do her hair and nails. That's not in the cards if she wants to make her mother happy. Zach is handsome, smart and is a live in houseboy at the house. He ordinarily has no romantic involvement with any of the girls. There's just something about the two of them together that they cannot resist the pull. It eventually becomes too much. They keep their relationship hidden - which is remarkable considering the prominence of the sorority and the size of the school. We learn of his past and his former friendship with the top fraternity's top man. We learn how and why the friendship fell apart and watch as Alexis is the key to restoring it. All hell breaks loose when they are caught together in the house. Zach could lose his job and Alexis could get thrown out of the house. Want to know what happens? You've got to read the book. This book really surprised me and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It's lighter than I thought it would be, but it was also quite refreshing.Tags : Rushed: A New Adult Romance (The Rushed Series) (Volume 1) [Gina Robinson] on Amazon.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. Rushed A New Adult Romance The Rushed Series Volume 1 Gina Robinson 9780692237960 Books Reviews
I received a complimentary e-copy of Rushed in exchange for an honest review.
Zach is one of 4 houseboys at the Delta Delta Psi sorority house. His duties range from cooking, house maintenance, to protecting the sisters. He gets free room and board and also a small paycheck which he desperately needs since his parents have basically written him off for reasons he doesn't ever talk about to anyone. The most important rule for all the houseboys is that under no circumstances are they to be involved with any of the sisters and it's a rule that Zach has never had a problem with... until Alexis.
Alexis is destined to join the Double Deltsies, after all her mom is a legacy in the sorority. She's just looking forward to having the college experience and being in a sorority isn't something that she feels is a necessity. Her mom thinks otherwise and Alexis has to decide if she wants to suck it up and pledge or deal with the repercussions from her parents if she doesn't pledge.
During rush week, she meets Zach at the house and she feels an instant attraction to him. Now there's another consideration to her decision since being a Double Deltsie means there's no way anything could happen between her and Zach or each of them could be kicked out of the house permanently.
She makes her choice and now to complicate things even further, her assigned mentor, Morgan, has her eye on Zach too and she quickly picks up that there's something going on between Zach and Alexis. And the president of the frat that hangs out with the Deltsies is Dakota who has his own eye on Alexis. Dakota is the former best friend of Zach. Throughout high school Dakota fell short of Zach in just about everything. Zach was the first string quarterback, Dakota was the second string quarterback. Zach was voted most popular, Dakota came in second. Dakota picks up on the attraction between Alexis and Zach and doesn't want to come in 2nd this time. Dakota also is one of the few people in the world that know Zach's issues and it was when he outed Zach that caused the rift in their friendship.
I loved Rushed. I liked that we got to be inside both Zach's and Alexis' heads as the chapters alternated between their point of views. As much as I liked Alexis, I really loved Zach. My heart broke for him as he dealt with his feelings of unworthiness, guilt, and longing for something he knew he couldn't have and I smiled for him whenever something good happened to him because he so deserved it. I loved everything that Rushed has going for it - there's a behind the scenes look at sorority life, a forbidden attraction, betrayal, guilt, secrets and at the root of it all is a blossoming love that you can't help but root for.
This is the first book that I've read by Gina Robinson, but I'm looking forward to reading more by her!
Awesome story
The storyline in this book was just not realistic. I put it down several times, and the only reason I finished it was because I wanted to find out how the "house boy" resolved his issues with his parents. I should have left it down. The way the author wrapped the family conflict was rushed (pun intended) and too easy. The irony/coincidence that wraps up the story had me rolling my eyes. It was way too predictable. And as a Sorority Girl myself, the stereotypes that the author gave into regarding sorority life was insulting and untrue. I left the book angry that I wasted my time. However, I thought the writing was good, hence the two stars.
When I started this book, I will admit I rolled my eyes and thought I wouldn't like it. Boy was I wrong about that, and I'm so happy I am wrong! I thought it would be one of those cheesy college romances that will make you want to gag....It isn't.
Alexis does everything her parents want her to. She wants to keep them happy, and needs to if she wants college paid for. I do wish that she would have stood up for herself to her mom some though.
Zach is a houseboy for the sorority. He is a live in male servant basically, but he's hot as hell.
There are bumps in the road for these 2, some twists and turn. Overall it was a fast, good, well written read. You have the characters you love, Alexis, Zach, and yes, even Dak. And then you have the character you really dislike a lot....Morgan!
