I was a beta reader for this excellent novel, and I am so happy to see it up and ready to buy. The main story is very different from his previous two novels, something that worked in his favour (though I missed Michelle and Aaron) for expanding the universe. The sex scenes are great, the character development is really great, and the pace is tight. The author likes his hardboiled crime plots, but he handles them well, and they're a lot of fun to read. The morals are even greyer than previously, and this is the only time I've ever seen research about legal matters in a book put in with such flair and panache. The sex, of course, is great, but you can expect that from this author's writing. All in all, it's a solidly written contribution to the genre, with the delightful advantage of being written from a human perspective. The only critique I will offer is that sometimes the villainess was a bit flat, and the ending was a little rushed. It's worth mentioning, but chances are, it won't slow you down.
Tired of vampires? Losing hope of finding anything other than watered-down, angsty teen crushes? Don't hesitate to drop the money for this book. You will thank yourself and breathe a sigh of relief as you settle into the blood-drenched, twisted story.

I enjoyed this book very much. I lived the characters, a really engaging story, keep me really interested, thank u!
I was looking forward to reading more about Aaron and Michelle, but instead found myself thrown into a story so compelling that my initial irritation soon dissipated. Hope and Enrique combined with a feisty Lia made for a terrific Vampire story. I am not quite sure what they had to do with the Nightlife Series based on Aaron and Michelle, or why this book is part of the series at all, but inevitably I have found myself liking Enrique more than the former characters. His suave, debonair demeanor captivated me and he is by far my favorite Vampire to date.
It's graphic, violent, and full of angry sex. I did feel like the end got a little too happily ever after to fit the mood and context of the rest of the book but other than that, I enjoyed it. I did find some of the scenes repetitive--not with the sex, surprisingly, despite the number, those were pretty unique--but with the withdrawals. It got a little aggravating always hearing about 'needing the bite'. Still, held my attention to the end and was well written.
This is an excessively violent story. There was ALOT of sex. It wasn't descriptive when it was gentle sex; but you knew everything that was happening when it was rough and ménage a tu. The violence against the h was horrific. This story truly is a fairytale because nobody could withstand multiple stabbings, broken ribs, broken face, concussions, rapes and still be able to beat off an assailant and run through the streets of NY to get home.
This book contains a significant amount of explicit sex and a few scenes of rape and torture. I have no problem with such things, and found it all to be really well done. Putting the book down was a challenge, and I kept returning to it when I should have been doing other things.
The narrator, Hope, is well done. She's brave, a survivor, and has a great voice. The author made me care about what happened to her, which is the grandest compliment I can think of to offer. Her history is completely believable, and so long as you can accept vampires, the entire book is, too.
It never stumbled over itself, and exposition was woven in so deftly I barely noticed. I recommend this book to anyone who can accept vampires and isn't turned off by erotica and violence.
This book really caught me off guard -- and that doesn't happen often. I had an idea that this book would push boundaries, what I didn't expect was how deep the storyline would go. Blood Slave starts out as a book you can't put down.
Hope is a prostitute, she has been since she was 14-years-old. She's used to the life and has grown to accept it for what it is. But when she meets, Enrique, the so-called -- vampire in shining Armani -- life for Hope takes a very dark turn. The erotic nature of the book is done well, very well. Mr. Luedke really holds nothing back, and he sure knows how to do it seamlessly. What really surprised me was the way in which the author handled the serious subject matter of the book. This isn't simply an erotic novel. This is a journey. There were moments that completely shocked me. There is violence that is hard to read, certainly not for the squeamish. But the more I read into it, the more I realized that these event weren't put in this novel without purpose. These things (minus the vampires, of course) happen in real life. And while the violence was incredibly graphic at times, it conveyed the reality of Hope's situation.
Without giving away any spoilers, I was very annoyed with Enrique towards the end of the novel. I was sure I was going to have to deduct a star rating for how I felt about him. But Mr. Luedke rounded out the storyline and left no questions unanswered. I was glad it ended the way it did.
As I've said, this novel is not for the squeamish. It will take you on a crazy ride of emotions, I can guarantee you that. But I can also say that you will have a hard time putting it down.
