This was the first Catherine Coulter novel I have read. I purchased Evening Star because it was a book selected by many romance readers as their favorite romance re-read. This book was originally published in 1984 under the name Sweet Savage.

Giana Van Cleve, an innocent 17 years old, has fallen in love with a vicious fortune hunter. Her mother, the renowned shipowner and builder Aurora Van Cleve, is desperate to save her daughter. She agrees to support Giana's wedding if Giana agrees to first spend an unusual three months in Rome with her Uncle Daniele. I really enjoyed this book. I found the right blend of humor... suspense...strong supporting characters...and hot steamy passion that is Catherine Coulter's trademark. I look forward to reading other novels from this author.

Nothing but sex education throughout the whole book Did not like it and will probably not purchase any more Star Stories by Coulter.I do like her detective novels.
Giana's uncle should have been shot. Her uncle wanted to give her an education. The first thing he did to his niece was to strip and observe her body and let a Madame touch her in front of him. Also let men touch his seventeen year old niece.
The book was just gut wrenching. She received an education from her uncle and the Madame all right. What good did it do. Giana was blackmailed and raped. And not only that, she became pregnant. And the author white washed all that behavior. The mother was a no show, and the uncle did not receive his just rewards.
It was ludicrous that Giana would sit and play chess with him. I would have hoped that Giana would have dealt with him and not with kindness. It was pure child abuse.
I have already purchased the next novel in the series.
I'm afraid to read it
While it is well written, there is far too much graphic sexual content for my liking. I did not finish the book.
This book completed my series and I was so very happy to find it through . Catherine Coulter always finds some humor in her books which is one of the reasons I love her books.
This was an Excellent story by Catherine Coulter. Very romantic even funny in some places. A great group of people. A Great book!
I had forgotten about coulters books for a while. She is one of the only authors that i can remember heir name. Suffice it to say that catherine coulter is a magnificent author. I gave this book 3 stars because it did not effect me like her other books did. I connected with the characters but not with the plot or the story. It was still a good read though, but not worth the full price paid
